-Reading is the
county seat of Berks County. It is a
middle sized city cradled by Mount Penn.
Overlooking the city is an authentic
Japanese Pagoda that lights up the night
sky over the city. We are located about
an hour's drive from Philadelphia, PA. |

-Monterrey is an
industrial city of about 5 million
residents. Recreation includes:
hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing,
and swimming. The city has many
cultural activities to partake in and is
full of friendly people. The
students at the American Institute of
Monterrey are from upper-class families
and often times take the opportunity to
travel the world. They also have a
knack for art and creative thinking. |

-Dominican
Republic |
-Ms. Reinert is a
member of the Peace Corps in the
Dominican Republic. Here is her account:
City of 300,000. It's in the Cibao region
of the country, and is surrounded by rice
and cocoa farms mostly, but there are
also lot of plantains, bananas, oranges,
avacadoes, pigeon peas, pineapples,
cherries, and mangoes. I basically
live in the fertile belt which rocks
because I even get broccoli and
cauliflower here. The people here
are great though, very open and willing
to help you out with anything. You
can always hear merengue or bachata (like
a version of country) music playing at
any corner store (called colmados).
Spanish is the language spoken in the DR.

-We are the
smallest city in the state. We are
located on the western NH border on the
Connecticut River at the intersection
of US Rte 93 and US Rte 89,
adjacent to Hanover, NH with nearby
Dartmouth College. From our classroom
window we see the leaves turning
brilliant colors on the surrounding hills
and along the Mascoma River which runs
through the city. Lebanon
participated in the Industrial Revolution
and the mills previously vacant are
enjoying a resurgence in the new
Technology Revolution. |
